POSITION SUMMARY

The Feeding South Florida® (FSF) Community Nutrition Educator (CNE) provides nutrition education throughout the FSF service area using the provided curriculum. This position works in a variety of community settings and environments while cultivating community partnerships and is responsible for tracking and reporting data as required by the program. The CNE will be involved in the coordination and delivery of initiatives, focusing on increasing food security and access, and decreasing the risk of health concerns correlated with food insecurity.

COMPENSATION: $45,000 - $50,000

This is a full time seasonal position starting in May and ending at the end of August.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide nutrition education classes in compliance with FSF guidelines and evidence-based resources.

  • Assist in the development, coordination, and delivery of healthy nutrition handouts, nudges, recipes, cooking demonstrations, and other program materials designed to support policy, system, and environment (PSE) changes and improve the diet quality of those we serve.

  • Regularly assist in the execution of Mobile FARMacies throughout the FSF service area, including distributions, education, site visits, scheduling, reporting, and other administrative tasks.

  • Regularly assist in the execution of the FSF Choice Pantries, including intake, scheduling, education, reporting, procurement, storage, distribution, and other administrative tasks, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.

  • Assist in the identification, recruitment, and maintenance of community partners and target audiences, effectively communicating the program mission and goals.

  • Maintain accurate records of nutrition education, client interactions, PSE events, and other program activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

  • Maintain professional relationships, providing exceptional customer service both internally and externally.

  • Represent FSF at community meetings, events, and presentations.

  • Participate in program improvement and strategic planning activities as assigned.

  • Ensure all communications are returned as expeditiously as possible, preferably within one business day.

  • Stay current on health and wellness industry trends and initiatives.

  • Support the overall mission of the department and organization, helping to create a healthier environment and culture of wellness.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, education, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience which provides an equivalent background.

  • A minimum of two years of nutrition education or related experience.

  • Successful clearance of a Level 2 background check.

  • Ability to work constructively with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in culturally diverse work environments.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Strong public speaking skills, including presenting to large audiences.

  • Exceptional work ethic and ability to be a self-motivated, positive team player who can reliably work with minimal supervision.

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications: Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams.

  • Ability to travel throughout FSF’s service area: Monroe County, Miami-Dade County, Broward County, Palm Beach County.

  • Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish, Creole, Portuguese, or Russian).

  • Commitment and adherence to organization mission and values.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hours of Operation: Organization hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The schedule for this position will vary, including occasional weekends and evenings. This position may work additional hours during peak times such as holiday seasons and disaster response.

  • Environment: This position works in an office setting with varying periods of standing, talking, and/or visual concentration, and use of office equipment. Must maintain office safety standards. Occasional work will occur in the warehouse or outside in fields and warehouses in inclement weather. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

  • Travel: This position will require significant travel for daily responsibilities and occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and special events, all of which may require a personal vehicle.

  • OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
