Job Description

The CTO will oversee the IT and digital teams, spearheading innovation through machine learning, AI, and strategic tech adoption. This role also ensures organizational compliance with data privacy regulations and oversees infrastructure, tools, and vendor management. The position carries full P&L responsibility and accountability.

Responsibilities:

Technology & IT Leadership:
• Oversee all internal IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, cloud environments, and telecommunications.
• Hire and supervise IT staff and external consultants to support business operations.
• Lead AI and other technology integration efforts to enhance donor targeting, engagement, and fundraising. Cybersecurity,

Data Privacy & Compliance:
• Develop and maintain company-wide data security policies, digital retention protocols, and IT governance frameworks.
• Ensure full compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other state/federal data protection laws.
• Protect donor, client, and internal company data from cyber threats, scams, and unauthorized access. Database, Data Architecture & List Management
• Oversee database management and list brokerage software development and training.
• Implement and maintain structured (SQL) and unstructured data systems that integrate with the company’s direct mail and digital fundraising models.
• Lead database consolidation, migration, and integration efforts to improve data accessibility and marketing performance.

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery:
• Develop and maintain business continuity plans, including disaster recovery protocols for critical systems and databases.
• Establish backup, recovery, and fail-over strategies to ensure high data availability and security. Strategic IT & Innovation
• Identify new technology trends and develop proprietary software solutions to support fundraising and direct marketing efforts.
• Implement data lake/data warehouse architectures for advanced donor analytics and segmentation.
• Work closely with executive leadership and marketing teams to ensure technology aligns with strategic company goals.
• Responsible for studying direct marketing, direct mail and digital fundraising, and conservative issues.

Qualifications:
• 10+ years of IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior/executive role.
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, AI, and database architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar), SQL databases, and AI-driven data solutions.
• An understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and model cooperative database compliance.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage external vendors, and drive technological innovation.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in:
o Conservative direct response agencies
o Nonprofits, political fundraising, or data intelligence firms
o High-volume mail/list management environments
